Elaine Glover nee Merrikin 30-Oct-2025
Hi my name is Elaine and my mum was Valerie Nichols married to Bernard Merrikin and his mother was Annie Weston. The Westons were married to Smiths and I believe that Anne Smith Married to Thomas Zanker my 5th Grandmoter was also apart of the Smiths on my grandmothers side.

The Zankers came to Billesdon on my Grandmothers side in 1700's and I believe after a lot of research that they were originally a Jewish family. Zanker is a Jewish and German name. David Zanker thought the Zankers were Huguenots from France but their name suggest not. I am trying to find a link where Thomas Zanker Joseph Zanker came from.

An impressive website with a vast amount of great genealogical information. I can trace my Ireland family in Tilton back to the mid 17th century and so am fascinated by its history. Thanks to all those who worked on the information in this website and making it freely available.

One small correction if I may. You have me in the list of the Ireland family as being born in February 1950. This was my brother and first born for my parents, and he died shortly after birth. I came along in May 1951.

Kevin Smithson Ireland, son of Gerald John Ireland.

Thankyou to everyone who has dedicated time to this site.
I live in New Zealand so all my research is via the keyboard. My family connection to Tilton on the Hill is: Thomas Needham and Mary Cook (mid 1700s).

Very Grateful for what I have discovered here.

Congratulations on a very interesting website. Siberia fact especially interesting!

I'm researching my 3GGmother Ann Springthorpe, born in Ruddington 1775 to Thomas and Sarah Springthorpe. She married Thomas Taylor from Cheshire in Worthington Leics in 1805 and they farmed at East Stoke Notts for many years. She died in 1845 and is buried at East Stoke. Does your History group know of any links with Tilton on the Hill? Such an unusual name, surely the same family?
Best regards

Judith

Thank you for creating this site. I would never have known the name of the man my great Aunt married- Susanna Wasson from Letterbin, County Tyrone married Frederick Viveash. I would be glad to hear from a relative of Frederick. Thank you
