My sister and myself visited Tilton many times during the 1940 and 50's and have fond memories of blackberry picking and afterward rabbit pie at our aunty and uncle's house - Kate and Isaac Catling. Having seen the gravestone photographs on your great site we visited Tilton a month ago to pay respects to our uncle, aunty and cousin Bill.

Many of my ancestors came from east Leicestershire and I did not know about the graves at tilton. I will visit to see them. Thanks for a great site. I was born in Leicester and am now in Northants.

I came across this site when searching for some information about my heritage. With my great grandparents being of the last names Tilton and Eden, I was told stories of one side of the family being from Tilton on the Hill and of the other being descendants of the former Prime Minister Anthony Eden. I hail from Portsmouth, NH, and I'm hoping to be able to visit England one day with my children, this town being first on my list of must-sees.

Well I'm near Tombstone Arizona, my son was born in Seoul Korea, near where McClaine Tilton burned the Han River Forts in 1871. We get around eh!

I would be very interested to know if there are any Baines's left in Tilton. my Great Grandfather left Tilton around 1853. He came to Huddersfield to work on the tramways,,married, and started a family, including my Grandad, William Edward "Teddy" Baines. He never talked about Tilton, although he spent childhood holidays there, and had what we think was a cousin,Nance Jacklin,in Mablethorpe, where we went for holidays. There was always talk about the Leicester people, including Alfred Baines, whose gravestone is on the website. He was known as Ted, and there was an Ena Baines.
Can anyone help??
I am also in touch with family of the Palmers of Telford, who live in Sacremento.

Very good website. Has a lot info about my family, the Randells. Would be interested in contacting Paul Randell from page 5 of this guestbook, he might be my cousin, and would like to know where he got his info from. Also, anyone else interested in the Randells. One of my ancestors, Thomas Randell, used to own the Rose & Crown Pub in Tilton in the late 1800s.
